NBA Game of the Week: Raptors at Cavaliers
I like the Raptors vs Cavs match-up this week for a couple reasons. First, the Cavs have to finish this season strong. They have a hungry Philadelphia 76ers team behind them, and a very consistent Pacers team as well. I’m sure they don’t want to fall to fourth or even fifth in the East. The Raptors, on the other hand, are looking to stay ahead of the Celtics and close out the East on top. Finally, this could very well be an Eastern Conference Finals match-up, so this could be a great preview of what we have to look forward to as the playoff picture unfolds. I’m anticipating lots of energy in this one, and for stars like James, Lowry, and DeRozan to put on a great show. Tune in Tuesday, April 3rd at 7 pm.
March Madness Game of the Week: Villanova vs Michigan
Not too much to be said here. It’s the only available choice and the NCAA March Madness tournament final. As a huge Nova fan I’m obviously pulling hard for the Wildcats. Watching the last game was a thing of beauty, especially in the first half. I’m still astounded by the fact that by the end of the first half they had already tied the record for 3 pointers made in a final four full game. I’m hoping they’re as hot tonight as they were then. Michigan has been solid though ever since their buzzer-beater in the first game of the tournament, so I expect a great game start to finish. Tune in to TBS Monday, April 2nd 9:20 pm.
Premier League Game of the Week: Manchester United at Manchester City
The race for the Premier League title is all but over. Manchester City are 16 points clear of second place Manchester United. However, I believe they can statistically win the Premier League this week if they win. They would have 87 points and would be up on Man U(at 68 points) by 19 points with 6 games remaining, making it impossible to lose. If Liverpool (currently at 66 points) loses or draws in the early morning game, Man City will be playing for the title. I can’t imagine Man City would want anything more than to win the Premier League 7 weeks before the end of the season, at home, by beating their closest rivals. Tune in to NBC Sports Saturday, April 7th at 12:30 pm.
NHL Game of the Week: Blues at Avalanche
I’m really hoping this game has huge playoff implications when it comes to Saturday’s game time. This will be the final game of the season for these two teams, and right now Colorado sits one point above St. Louis for the last playoff spot in the West, but the Blues have a game in hand. It would be amazing if Saturday comes with the teams able to play this one out in a situation where the winner makes it into the playoffs and the loser goes home. Tune in to Fox Sports at 9:00 pm on Saturday, April 7th.
MLB Game of the Week: Nationals at Braves
I’ll be honest, this early into the Major League Baseball season it’s tough to pick what I think will be the most intriguing game of the week. They play about a billion games in the season so it takes a few weeks at least before we can get a real picture of who the best teams are and determine great match-ups. So for the time being I enjoy looking at match-ups that include solid pitchers against solid hitting lineups. This week my pick is Max Scherzer of Washington pitching against the Atlanta Braves. Through 3 games the Braves lead the MLB in runs scored and team batting average, so this could be a good game. Tune in at 12:10 pm Wednesday, April 4th.
Recommendation of the Week: Ready Player One
Ready Player One is a movie that I’ve heard very different opinions on just asking around to family and friends. Some are excited to see it, as the concept of an entire virtual world where you have abilities you could never imagine in real life seems to be an exciting concept. Others opine that it looks ridiculous and basically is just a mess of special effects and CGI. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt, for now, solely because Spielberg is attached to it and I have to at least give it respect based upon that fact. If you’re interested in it at all please, check it out and let me know what you think about it because I’m genuinely interested in opinions.[/vc_column_text]
