NBA Game of the Week: NBA All Star Game
Now I know what you may be thinking. Why would I care about a game where virtually zero defense is played. I get that. You should care for two reasons. First, it’s just a fun game. NBA players are under a lot of pressure and watching them let loose for high flying dunks and alley-oops is fun to watch. When they have fun, we have fun. The second is for the fun match-ups and partnerships we’ll see this year. Kevin Durant will be teamed up with Lebron, who he just beat in the finals, Westbrook, who he abandoned at OKC, and will be going against everyone else from Golden State. Lebron also reunites with Kyrie Irving, the two of whom had a decent fallout prior to this season. Should be interesting to see how all that is handled. Check it out Sunday, February 18th at 8 pm on TNT.
NHL Game of the Week: Capitals at Blackhawks
My pick for the most exciting game this week is due to the electrifying players on both teams. Patrick Kane may go down as the greatest American-born player to ever grace the NHL. His unreal puck handling and goal sniping abilities make him one of the most exciting players to watch of all time. Ovechkin, on the other side, is a pure goal scoring machine that is an absolute joy to watch. In my opinion, Ovi is a perfect example of a phenomenal captain. Ovi scores a ton, and leads his team in goals every year. However, he would score zero goals every game if it would help his team win the cup. The man celebrates just as hard every goal regardless of who scores. Watch these two juggernauts face off at 8:30 pm on Saturday, February 17th.
Champions League Game of the Week: PSG vs Real Madrid
There are no Barclay’s Premier League games this weekend, so I figured that I’d highlight the Champions League game that I think has the most intrigue. Paris Saint-Germain F.C. have potentially the best team they’ve ever had, and are appropriately cruising through the French league. Real Madrid, on the other hand, have had a horrific start to the Spanish league and will likely never recover. That being said, they have won the champions league the last two years, and always bring their A game in the Champions League regardless of how they are faring in Spanish soccer. Neymar could be in line to be the first person to win the Ballon d’Or besides Messi or Ronaldo since 2007. Ronaldo will have other thoughts. Tune in at 2 45 Wednesday, February 14th.
Movie Recommendation of the Week: Black Panther
I may be biased because, as I’m a huge Marvel fan, I can’t name another film that is coming out this week. Black Panther explores the world of Wakanda, a country keeping itself in the shadows until recently, and home to one of the coolest superheroes we’ve seen in the last few years. Chadwick Boseman reprises his amazing representation of the titular superhero, with Michael B Jordan taking on the new villain. Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o also finds herself in the Marvel universe, bringing what I’m sure will be another great character into this exciting franchise. Be ready for an action packed, special effects filled, exciting ride.
