NBA: Lakers at Jazz
Pretty simple here, the Utah Jazz are the best in the NBA right now. The Los Angeles Lakers? Second best. Now that’s all based on record because I think the majority of us would bet on the Lakers still as of now to be NBA Champions at the end of the seasons. But, props need to be given to Donovan Mitchell and the Jazz because they’ve been playing some very solid basketball thus far. As we approach the midway point this season the Jazz have a record of 24-6, which puts them 2.5 games ahead of the Lakers as of today (Monday). While it’s still early in the season, I’d imagine that Lebron James, Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers will want to go out there Wednesday and show the Jazz that despite their records, LA is still at the top of the NBA and the favorite to take home another championship. Tune in Wednesday, February 24th at 10:00 pm to see who comes out on top in this one.
NHL: Maple Leafs at Oilers
I’m never going to miss an opportunity to hype up a game that contains the two highest scoring offenses in the NHL. The Maple Leafs and the Oilers put up goals. This is obviously due to the fact that they have some of the best players in the NHL on display. The Leafs terrorize defenses with Auston Matthews and John Tavares, and the Oilers have the best one-two punch in the NHL with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. I would bet my life savings that at least one will show up on the score sheet on Saturday, and I’d make sizeable wagers that more than one will put up a point, maybe even all four. Even with solid goaltending this one will be a high-scoring bout, I can almost guarantee it. Check this matchup out on Saturday, February 27th at 7:00 pm.
Premier League: Manchester United at Chelsea
While it looks like Manchester City is going to run away with the Premier League this year, there are still great games to be played and plenty of fight to be had for top four positioning. As of now, Manchester United sit in 2nd place with 49 points, 10 points behind Man City. Chelsea, on the other hand, sit in 5th place, only 2 points behind surprise of the season West Ham. West Ham plays Man City this weekend and will probably lose, so this game is huge for Chelsea and will bump them into a top 4 position with a win. I’ve been really enjoying all of the games I’ve watched as of late, and I expect this to be added to that list. Check it out Sunday, February 28th at 11:30 am
Netflix Movie of the Week: Inception
We’re picking Inception as this week’s Netflix recommendation for two reasons. First, there are some great Leo DiCaprio movies on Netflix right now so there’s no reason not to go through them, because they’re some of my absolute favorites. Second, if you read my review of Tenet, you know that we need to redeem Christopher Nolan a bit and put one of his best movies forward. Inception is awesome. It’s a movie that explores the exploration of dreams. DiCaprio’s character, Cobb, and his team are trained experts in extraction: the idea of infiltrating someone’s dreams in order to figure out secrets or information. However, when they’re unsuccessful in extracting from the wrong man, Cobb’s team is forced to take on the job of inception: planting an idea in someone’s mind in order to get them to make a decision in real life that will benefit their employer. The concepts in the movie are great, but the acting is what truly brings this movie to another level. Leo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe, and Tom Hardy (who may be a top 10 actor ever in my opinion) all have great chemistry and will keep you captivated from start to finish. Check Inception out this week and let me know what you think!
