NBA Game of the Week: Rockets at Trailblazers
With the Warriors currently hitting some injury troubles, the Rockets will likely run away with first place in the Western Conference, a reality that I did not anticipate going into this season with Chris Paul and James Harden sharing the court as ball-dominant players. Regardless, they’re no joke. Portland, on the other hand, is on a 13 game winning streak and Damian Lillard is proving that he is a superstar in this league. The best in the West against the hottest in the West. This is guaranteed to be a high scoring affair and an entertaining match-up. Tune in Tuesday, March 20th at 10:30 pm on TNT.
March Madness Game of the Week: Loyola Chicago vs Nevada
For me there is no question for this game of the week, not knowing ahead of time which game will produce a spectacular last second finish, which we’ve seen plenty of in this tournament so far. However, both teams in this match-up are low seeds that have produced upsets in dramatic fashion already. BOTH of Loyola’s games have featured a go-ahead shot in the final 10 seconds against higher seeded teams. In fact, BOTH shots came when their opponents had 62 points. Nevada then came back from 22 points down in the second half to upset 3 seed Cincinnati. Both teams are going to be bringing a ton of passion to this game. I’m looking forward to see how it plays out and which team will make it to the Elite 8. Tune in to CBS Thursday, March 22nd at 7:07 pm.
NHL Game of the Week: Devils at Penguins
The Eastern Conference playoff picture is still immensely exciting for the 4-8 seeds, as the seedings are continually changing. Every game is vital for these teams leading into their final 10-12 games of the season. This is even more prevalent when these teams play each other, as New Jersey and Pittsburgh do this Friday. I may be biased having lived most of my life on the East Coast, but I believe that the Metropolitan division rivalries are the best rivalries in hockey. Games are always hard fought, chippy, and filled with passion. I expect this one to be no different. Tune in to NHL Network at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 23rd.
Recommendation of the Week: Tomb Raider
If you’re in your 20s or even 30s, you surely remember how badass Angelina Jolie was in the original Tomb Raider movies. I’m usually not the biggest fan of remakes for movies that are only a generation apart, but I’m looking forward to seeing the new Tomb Raider. One of the reasons I’m excited is I think Alicia Vikander will be awesome. She’s shown her acting chops with serious roles leading to Academy Award recognition (The Danish Girl), and also proves she can play solid action roles (The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Jason Bourne). I think she’s going to enter into the tier of badass female action stars like Jolie, Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil Franchise), Kate Beckinsale (Underworld Franchise), etc. Check it out this weekend!
