NFL Game of the Week: Redskins at Eagles
Every head to head match-up in the NFC East has huge implications at this point in the season. Most likely none of the wildcard teams will come from this division, so winning the East is the only way to achieve playoff birth. The Redskins sit at 6-5 but are without QB Alex Smith for the rest of the season after suffering a gruesome leg break. The Eagles are at 5-6. The Cowboys are also at 6-5 and play the high-flying Saints team, so a loss is expected, meaning that this Philly/Washington game could very well lead to a new NFC East leader. Again this is a Monday night game but I’m including it this week since it falls in this week’s NFL schedule. Tune in at 8:15 Monday, December 3rd.
NBA Game of the Week: Warriors at Raptors
I’m sure Drake will be in attendance to watch his Eastern Conference-leading Toronto Raptors take on the Golden State Warriors in what could very well be an early preview of an NBA Finals match-up. The Raptors currently boast the best record in the NBA, led by first-year Raptor Kawhi Leonard. Golden State, on the other hand, has had a rough few weeks without Steph Curry and find themselves with 7 losses already this season. Both teams will want to make a statement in this game with a big win. Tune in to TNT at 8 pm Thursday, November 29th.
NHL Game of the Week: Rangers at Canadiens
I often choose to highlight NHL games that are sure to have a lot of goals due to two high-powered offenses going head to head. However, this week I want to look at what I think could be an awesome goaltender match-up. Carey Price and Henrik Lundqvist have been at the top of their game for years, and have the stats to show for it. I’m hoping for a low-scoring duel in this one that contains some magnificent saves from two of the best in the business.Tune in 7 o’clock on Saturday, December 1st.
Premier League Game of the Week: Tottenham at Arsenal
This is one of the great rivalries in Premier League soccer. The top 5 teams in the Premier League are all separated by 8 points, so when two of them get to play one another there are crucial points on the line. Tottenham are currently in 3rd with 30 points, and Arsenal are in 5th with 27 points. A win for Arsenal would boost themselves into the top 4, and likely drop Tottenham to 5th, witch Chelsea (currently in 4th) likely to win against Fulham. Exciting stuff. Tune in to NBC Sports this Sunday at 9 am.
Weekly Movie Recommendation: Creed II
Shot in my home city of Philly (my cousin is actually an extra in the movie as he’s a boxer), Creed II promises to be a sequel to remember. The story once again features the son of Apollo Creed, this time facing off against the son of Ivan Drago, the man who killed Apollo Creed. If that’s a spoiler for you I’m not sorry, it’s been decades. Initial reviews are solid, so if you’re into sports or fighting movies I would definitely give this one a go. The film stars Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone.
