Travel Spotlight: Burano, Venice, Italy

Alright so I was looking through my phone for some pictures of Italy to post on the Influential Gentleman Instagram for Photo Friday, and came across one of my favorite pictures I’ve ever taken. Burano, Italy used to be mostly a fishing town with a bit of tourism income, but has completely swapped those two items in terms of their economy, with tourism accounting for most of it. This is because the island in the Venetian Lagoon is incredibly unique. As you can see from the picture above (feel free to comment on how amazing my picture is, I’ll allow it), Burano is home to uniquely colorful homes.

If you find yourself touring Italy, I definitely recommend making Venice a stop. And if you’re in Venice, it would be all too convenient to take a quick boat ride over to Burano. I promise it will be worth your time. As I said, most of their income comes from tourism, so you can bet that there are some nice restaurants there as well. I’d put a good afternoon into Burano. Walk around and enjoy the colorful buildings, find a nice spot for lunch, and then relax for a bit in a nice green area, maybe under a tree, maybe with a glass of wine in hand.

There isn’t much else that needs to be said here. Tuck this gem away in your “future travel” notebook and you’ll have a nice afternoon on your future trip to Italy!
