Entertainment of the Week: March 29th – April 4th

NBA: Bucks at Lakers
Giannis and Lebron are always in the MVP discussions so this is a bit of a no-brainer pick for game of the week. Bucks versus Lakers. Wednesday, March 31st at 10:00 pm

NHL: Blues at Avalanche
I wanted to pick a fresh game for this week in terms of picking a team that I’ve probably never used in an NHL game of the week. The Avalanche are definitely a slept-on team at this point, and definitely have the potential to finish a great regular season campaign and make a solid run in the playoffs. I have a special place in my heart for the Avalanche, as they saved my ESPN Streak for the Cash month-winning streak back in 2014 when they pulled the goalie with 3 minutes left in a game, tied it and forced overtime, then won in overtime, helping me with a clutch win that would lead to 20,000 dollars cash at the end of the month. So I’ll be rooting for them this week based on that alone.  The Blues are good too. Check this one out Friday, April 2nd at 9 pm.

Premier League: Manchester City at Leicester
While Manchester City has already locked up the Premier League title, there is plenty of pride to play for in term of fighting for a second place finish. Leicester has 100% of my support to do so. They aren’t riddled with superstars or high profile signings, they play great soccer, and Jamie Vardy is the man. I’m interested to see the type of effort Manchester City puts out the rest of the season. That being said, they could sit their normal starters and still have a top 4 caliber team, so I’m sure they’re going to play at a high level. That makes this a huge game for Leicester at home if they want to beat Manchester United for the number 2 spot. Check this matchup out Saturday, April 3rd at 12:30 pm.

Netflix Recommendation: The Departed
Our Netflix recommendations of the week have been pretty gritty and all R-Rated for the past couple weeks. I’ve realized that these may not appeal to either the squeamish or the family-oriented, so starting next week I will lighten the mood with some family friendly suggestions. However, I’m going to finish strong in the violent category with one of the best movies of all time, in my opinion. Plot twists, high-suspense, and sublime acting all come in to play in The Departed, with the latter being by far the most impressive. Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, and Alec Baldwin. Amazing lineup. Check this one out this weekend and let me know what you think!
