NBA: Bucks at Heat
The defending Eastern Conference champions may be down 2-0 in this series, but they definitely are not out for the count. The Miami Heat, led by veteran Jimmy Butler, always seem to play extremely well in high-stakes games. This next game will essentially determine if they have any chance at all to take down the Milwaukee Bucks in this series, so you can certainly label this as a high-stakes game. Milwaukee barely won their first game at home, but slaughtered the Heat in Game 2. All of the momentum is on their side so I expect that they may take this game a little more lax than they should, leaving an opening for a comeback. I’m looking for a big game from Jimmy Butler on both ends of the court. Check this one out on Thursday, May 27th at 7:30 pm.
NHL Penguins at Islanders
The Islanders have themselves a great chance to close this series out at home in game 6 against the Penguins, and they’ll really want to take advantage. I’d hate to see them blow game 6 and have to head back to Pittsburgh for game 7 to try to complete the series upset. The Penguins are one of the best teams of the last 15 years and they’ll be going into this one with strong, veteran poise. The Islanders are kind of just getting into the prime of their team’s abilities and I just don’t know if they have that clutch gene yet to take care of business at home. I’m positive that the rest of the league will be behind the Islanders here as no one ever wants the Penguins to start getting on a roll in the playoffs. That usually doesn’t end well for the rest of the playoff contenders. Tune in to this game Wednesday May 26th at 6:30 pm.
Netflix Movie of the Week: Training Day
I’ll get back to a more family friendly recommendation next week but for this week I’m going with one of Denzel Washington’s most iconic movies, Training Day. Also starring Ethan Hawke, the film has Hawke’s character shadowing Washington’s character to learn the ins and outs of being a narcotics officer. Training Day is a great crime thriller, and actually gave Denzel his first Academy Award-winning performance. Again, violence and drugs throughout so don’t show this one to your Elementary or Middle School kids. But if you’re old enough for R rated movies give this one a go and let me know what you think!
