September Drink of the Month: Sunday Sangria

Summer is over. That’s a bummer for a lot of us, especially the teachers out there who have to resume real life after their 3 month breaks. However, as my teacher friend will tell you, the best way to cope with that is acknowledging the return of the NFL. And, the return of football requires a different kind of drink. This is not going to be your typical, make-one-at-a-time cocktail. We’re not talking glasses or mugs, we’re talking pitchers. We’re talking: Sunday Sangria.

Honestly, if you prefer, you can also call this Sunday Cider. Both are phonetic alliterations, so dealer’s choice. Either way, this is a solid drink to entertain with and enjoy while cheering on your favorite team, or watching your fantasy team disappoint you for the 3rd consecutive week. Let’s get into it.

  • 1 bottle of white wine (I’d go with Sauvignon Blanc but you can choose what you’d like)
  • 12 oz Hard apple cider
  • 32 oz apple cider or apple juice
  • 8 oz ginger ale
  • apple slices

  • Put ingredients in pitcher.
  • Stir
  • Pour into mason jars (or whatever you want mason jars are just cool)
  • Consume

This will go down fast as it is sweet and delicious, so it might be good to buy double those ingredients so you can have another batch for the 4 o’clock games…or for the second half of the 1 o’clocks.

Drink responsibly. Don’t let your team losing encourage you to go overboard (looking at you Giants fans).
